Collect the most cards and earn the most points to win.
Winning Rounds: The player that collects the most cards at the end of a round wins that round. Players collect cards from their opponents when winning challenges or playing out Action Cards. Points are distributed at the end of each round.
Winning the Game: The player who earns the most points after all the rounds have been played wins the game.
Win by strategy. Win by chance. Win by doing your best trying to remember your opponent’s Game Name. Most of all, have fun!
Game Name: The Game Name is the name that each player gives themselves at the beginning of a round that is determined by a category chosen by the dealer.
Get creative with the Categories and Game Names. Figure 1 shows some examples to get your game started.
A Game Name can be one or more words. At the beginning of each round, the dealer shall decide on the number of words for the Game Names.
Note: Multiple word Game Names may be more challenging to remember and to say. You might want to start off with one-word Game Names while learning the game. Then work your way to phrases, should you dare.
Figure 1. Example Categories and Game Names
The 62-piece playing card deck is comprised of 44 Challenge Cards and 18 Action Cards.
When dealt with a Challenge Card with a polyhedron, quickly see if you have a matching Challenge Card with another player. When you do, you challenge that player by calling out their Game Name before they call out yours. The first player to call out the correct Game Name wins the challenge and collects their opponent’s stack of cards, except for a Safe Card and any cards underneath the Safe Card. There will not be an instance of more than two players with matching Polyhedron cards, so only those two players will challenge each other. Refer to “Action Cards: Safe Card” for further scenarios on collecting cards.
4 Regular Polyhedron Challenge Cards. 10 of each card.
The Dust Up Card involves a challenge between all players. The player who is dealt with a Dust Up Card can call out any opponent’s Game Name regardless of what card the opponent has in play. Meanwhile, all the other players can call out the Game Name of only the player who has the Dust Up Card. Whichever player calls out the correct Game Name first wins the Dust Up challenge. Once the Dust Up Card is played out, it becomes void but remains at the top of the deck until dealt with a new card.
There are (4) Dust Up Cards in the deck.
When dealt with a Safe Card, the player rotates the Safe Card 90 degrees keeping it face up across the top of their own stack. In the correct position, the ends of the Safe Card should be visible to all players to indicate that the cards below are safe from being collected by their opponents. Only the Safe Card can be placed at this angle so that it remains visible as cards get stacked above it by the dealer. The dealer then resumes dealing the cards, starting with the next player.
A player can have multiple active Safe Cards.
A Safe Card becomes void when unlocked by a Player who has collected two (2) Key Cards.
There are (4) Safe Card in the deck. Rotated 90 degrees on top of stack shows active position.
When dealt with a Key Card, the player shall set it aside from their stack, face-up and visible to all players. Collect two (2) Key Cards to immediately unlock any single active Safe Card. It must be the top-most Safe Card if the opponent has multiple active Safe Cards. The Key Cardholder collects the Safe Card and the cards below it, with exception of another active Key Card below it, and adding the collected cards to the top of their own stack with the Safe Card on top in the inactive position aligned with the other cards. This means the Safe Card is no longer saving the cards below.
If no players have an active Safe Card in play, the Key Holder shall wait until the first Safe Card is dealt and immediately collect those cards from the opponent, even if it is not the Key Holder’s turn to be dealt a card. Once the Key Holder has played their two (2) Key Cards, the two (2) Key Cards are turned over to the dealer and set aside as void. The dealer then resumes dealing the cards, starting with the next player.
There are six (6) Key Cards in the deck.
When a player is dealt with the Change Name Card, the player must immediately change their Game Name to a new one using the same category that is in play and announce the new Game Name to everyone.
Alternatively, the player has the option to switch names with an opponent.
Once the Change Name Card is played out, it becomes void but remains at the top of the deck until dealt with a new card. The dealer then resumes dealing the cards, starting with the next player.
There is (1) Change Name Card in the Deck
When dealt with a Rotate or Stay card, the player has the option to rotate all the players’ card stacks clockwise, counterclockwise, or stay as is. The player announces which option has been decided on. If the player chooses to rotate either way, all players give their stack to the player next to them: on the left if clockwise, on the right if counterclockwise. Players with Safe Cards in play only give the cards that are above the Safe Card. Players with multiple active Safe Cards only rotate the cards above the top Safe Card. Once all the players have shifted their cards or the player chooses to stay, the Rotate or Stay Card becomes void and the dealer then resumes dealing the cards, starting with the next player.
There are (3) Rotate or Stay Cards in the Deck.
1. All the players should assemble in a circle so that all players can see each other’s cards being dealt to in front of them on a clean flat surface, such as a tabletop or floor free of obstructions.
2. Choose a player to be the dealer for the first round. After the first round, all players shall take turns being the dealer each round going clockwise. A set of rounds is complete after each player has been the dealer once. The dealer can also compete, but for more than 4 players, it is suggested for simplicity, that the dealer only deal the cards and not compete in that round. This should be decided at the start of the game.
3. Decide on a scenario for how to win the game by referring to “Scenarios to Win the Game”.
4. The first order of the dealer is to select a category by which the players will choose a Game Name from. The dealer reveals the category to all the players. Refer to “Categories and Your Game Name” for examples.
5. All the players choose a Game Name for themselves. Once each player has decided on a Game Name, the dealer will ask each player to announce their Game Name. Starting with the first player to the left of the dealer and continuing to the next player in a clockwise fashion, each player shall clearly state their Game Name by saying “Call me ((Insert Game Name)”. The dealer should make sure everyone is clear on everyone’s Game Name.
Starting a Round: Once the game is set up, the dealer shuffles the full deck of playing cards and begins a round by holding the full deck face down, dealing one card at a time from the top of the deck starting with the player to the left of the dealer and continuing full circle placing a card face up in front of each player. The dealer continues around the circle forming a stack in front of each player.
It is the dealer’s responsibility to be a good dealer and ensure that everyone can view the card being dealt at the same time. The best way to do this is to keep the card low and flip the card face up once it is directly over the player’s stack. This way no one gets the advantage of a sneak peek before anyone else. Everyone should have a fair chance to react to the dealt card. The dealer plays referee on close calls.
Dealing a Challenge Card: The moment two players have been dealt Challenge Cards with polyhedrons that match, the dealer calls out “Challenge!” and pauses to allow those two players to challenge each other. The players do not need to wait for the dealer to call this out to do the challenge. All Challenge Card matches shall be played out. Allow the winner of the challenge to collect their opponent’s stack of eligible cards before dealing the next card.
Managing Penalties During a Challenge:
Once the challenge is over, the dealer shall continue to deal the cards starting with the next player in the sequence.
Dealing an Action Card: When dealing an Action Card, the dealer calls “Action” and shall allow the player to act on the card before dealing the next card. If another player has the same Action Card at the top of their deck, they do not challenge each other. Refer to “Action Cards” for details on what they are and what to do.
Managing Penalties during an Action Card:
Once the Action Card is played, the dealer shall continue to deal the cards starting with the next player in the sequence.
End of Round and Scoring: The round ends when the dealer has dealt the last card. The players count their cards in their stack excluding any Key Cards. Refer to “Scoring” for point values. Play out the rounds based on the scenario you collectively chose in the “Scenarios to Win the Game” section.
You are ready to play!
Players collectively decide at the beginning on how to end the game with one of the following three suggested scenarios.
Scenario 1 (Sets of Rounds): Play by sets of rounds where each player has an equal number of chances to be the dealer, (ie. 1 set for 6 players = 6 rounds, 2 sets for 6 players = 12 rounds, and so forth). After playing all the sets, tally up the points from each round/set. The player who has the most points after playing all the sets wins the game! Refer to “Scoring” for tallying the points.
Scenario 2 (Number of Points): Play by reaching a total number of points, (i.e.. 100, 200, 250, etc.). Decide at the beginning of the game on the number of points to win. Players tally their points at the end of each round. The first player to reach (i.e.. 100, 200, 250, etc.) points, wins the game! Refer to “Scoring” for tallying the points.
Scenario 3 (Any Number of Rounds, No points): Play by any number of rounds with no point tally. The player who collects the most cards once the dealer has dealt the entire deck wins the round! The winner picks the next category.
At the end of a round, scores are tallied by counting the number of cards in your stack. Only Key Cards are excluded from being counted. Select one of the following options for scoring.
*Option A for 3 or more players:
stack, earns an additional: 15 POINTS
*Option B for 3 or more players:
in their stack, earns: 15 POINTS
or the least cards, earns: 10 POINTS
*Bonus: At the end of the game, each player gives 1 of their cards to the player they decide was the best dealer and shall be tallied in the final scoring.
Option A for 2 players:
Option B for 2 players:
